Position: Painter & Decorator
Employer: Sukh and Shah Ltd
Salary: £39,000 – £40,000
Location: Hull, England
Full time 37.5 hours per week

Key duties
Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Preparing surfaces by cleaning, scraping, sanding, and filling cracks or holes to ensure a smooth painting surface.
• Selecting and recommending appropriate paint colours, finishes, and materials based on project requirements and client preferences.
• Protecting furniture, floors, and other items from paint splatter and damage during the painting process.
• Applying primers, paints, stains, and varnishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers with precision and even coverage.
• Installing and removing wallpaper, including surface preparation and adhesive application.
• Repairing or replacing damaged wood, drywall, or plaster prior to painting.
• Collaborating with construction workers, contractors, and site supervisors to coordinate work activities.
• Following safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintaining and cleaning tools, equipment, and work areas.
• Adhering to building codes and regulations related to painting and decorating work.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Required
Essential:
• Proven experience as a Painter and Decorator.
• Proficiency in painting techniques, including surface preparation, priming, and finishing.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools used in painting and decorating work.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
• Physical stamina and agility to perform manual labour in various working conditions.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others.
• Safety-conscious mindset with knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of different types of flooring materials (hardwood, tile, carpet) and wall tiles.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction plans.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
